About This Blog

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:12, KJV)

At times, I struggle with the conflict between reason and mystery. I believe in Jesus Christ. I study the Bible, and I think I know it quite well. Yet, there are many unanswered questions. My goal is to live out my faith in this world, knowing that I will not have all of the answers until I reach “the other side.”

If you believe in Jesus and want to follow Him completely, but are not always sure where He is leading you, I invite you to join me on this journey.

I began blogging when I was assistant pastor of a small church in Lynbrook, NY. I am no longer in pastoral ministry, but writing gives me an opportunity to “preach” and “teach” without a congregation.

I write about diverse themes related to the Christian faith. Many of my posts are categorized as Bible meditations, current events, or politics. However, I plan to focus on some of the following aspects of the Christian life as well:

  • Building a spiritual legacy: How can we have a lasting impact on other people’s lives and the world around us? How can we ensure that our lives will have mattered after our time on Earth ends?
  • Spiritual disciplines: I believe in the power of prayer and fasting. I believe Christians should be dedicated, disciplines students of the Bible, so that we can know God’s will for our lives and obey Him. (On that note, “Teaching, Reproof, and Training in Righteousness,” a post about Bible study, is the most-read post in this blog’s history; it still averages about 600 hits per year.)
  • Culture warfare:For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12, NASB). When I write about “politics” or “current events,” I am not seeking to promote a particular political party; I am pointing out the spiritual and moral problems that fester at the root of many of our nations woes. I am identifying the spiritual enemy and his tactics, so that Christians can be alert and take a godly stand in an ungodly culture.
  • Renewing the mind:Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12: 1-2, NASB).

My Academic Background

I have a B.A. in psychology and journalism from Syracuse University (1987) and a M.Div. in pastoral counseling from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (1991).

Personal

I have been married to my wife, Joyce, since May 2000. I have a son, Daniel, who lives in Springfield, MO, with his wife and their three children.

My hobbies include sports (soccer and hockey especially), music (I play guitar and bass, sing, and occasionally write music), reading, writing, and computers.

Although I served the Lord for about 20 years in ordained ministry, I now attend the Cathedral Church of the Intercessor, which is the main international cathedral of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. I am a member of the Brotherhood of St. Joseph, a lay order of men who feel called to a deeper level of discipleship. Joyce sings in the choir.

In addition to this website and ministry, I work full-time as a senior content editor at AIP Publishing LLC, preparing scientific journals for publication.

Well, now that you know more about me, I hope I can be a blessing to you through the posts and articles on this site. May God speak to your heart as you read.

  1. Hello Gordon,
recently I was nominated for the Liebster Award. I would nominate you too.
Somewhere I noticed you have been nominated by somebody else only recently. Nevertheless I have now included you in the list to be published in a few minutes.
